Li-Ting (Grace) Yang, Ph.D., Assistant Professor


Dr. Grace Yang received her Ph.D. degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2011.  She joined the faculty at USC in the fall of 2011. Prior to joining academia, she held the executive positions in several upper upscale international hotels over 12 years. She has excelled at hotel pre-opening, innovation, and organizational reengineering. Because of her extensive hotel executive experience, Dr. Yang has taught a wide range of hospitality management courses in Taiwan and the U.S. for many years.  Before joining USC, she was an adjunct professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her major teaching areas include Hospitality Finance and Accounting, Revenue Management, Human Resources Management, Hotel Operations and Management, and Convention and Event Management.  In 2009, Dr. Yang was awarded the title of Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

Dr. Yang’s primary research interest is hospitality finance and accounting. Her research entitled “Financial Performance and Capacity Analysis for the MICE Industry in Las Vegas and the U.S.” focuses on modeling of capacity optimization in the convention industry. Applying the Inventory Management Theory, she developed an inventory model to estimate the optimal capacity for the MICE industry. Having a great passion for developing quality research, Dr. Yang, as a lead author, has numerous research studies in progress, including publications and papers under revision in top tier refereed journals. In addition to hospitality finance and accounting, she has conducted research in human resources management and published several research papers in top tier refereed journals. Furthermore, Dr. Yang has obtained several research grants to support her research projects. In 2015, she was awarded an “International Visiting Scholar” position by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan.

Because of her expertise in finance and accounting and strong academic and industry background, Dr. Yang is able to identify and solve relevant research problems by applying advanced theories and by providing practical and managerial implications. Particularly, her connection with the hospitality industry enables her research to be more relevant and applicable to the real world. Further, Dr. Yang has developed research collaborations with international scholars which enhance her research profile.
